"like a tree planted by streams of water" --Psalm 1:3

Introduction

Hello, this is Andrea Manor. I live in Nashville, TN and I believe that God is always present and actively working in our lives and the world, even when we are unaware of it.

I’m a Spiritual Director with Dovehouse Ministries and I provide the following services:

  • Provide individual monthly direction

  • Facilitate spiritual direction groups

  • Lead multi-day Silent Retreats

  • Host Quiet Days

  • Offer Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola in daily life

If I can help you with any of the above please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]

I’m creating this newsletter as a way to share things I’ve been thinking, learning, and doing as well as invite you to upcoming events.

New Booklet

New Booklet on Imaginative Contemplation

My second book has just arrived from the printer! The book is called Imaginative Contemplation: Exercises to help you step into the scene and encounter Christ. The booklet has scriptures, images, and prompts to help guide you through prayer using your imagination. The Books are $20 each or if you need shipping they are $25. These would make a great Christmas gift! If you are interested in purchasing, please fill out a Booklet Order Request

Upcoming Events

I hosted my first Quiet Day today! What a gift to share our space with others as they seek time away to be with Jesus. Quiet days offer a day away when longer silent retreats are not possible. It is an opportunity to be quiet with the Scriptures and your journal, to rest and to seek God away from the busyness of life. Are you interested in attending a Quiet Day in 2025? Let me know of your interest by filling out this form: Sign ups and payment for this Bellevue quiet day will be coming soon on the Dovehouse Website. If you fill out my Quiet Day Interest Form I’ll email you when sign-ups are made available on the Dovehouse website.

Quotes to Ponder

“In contemporary society our Adversary (the devil) majors in three things: noise, hurry, and crowds. If he can keep us engaged in “muchness” and “manliness,” he will rest satisfied.”

Celebration of Discipline, Richard Foster

“In Advent we are invited to prepare to make God welcome; we are invited to take the initiative to open the door to the baby in need. God does not come into the world with a battering ram, but with a cry: open the door.”

Adapted from Jane Williams, The Art of Advent

Resources

I love to read and listen to podcasts. One podcast that I’ve recently listened to is about what Advent has to tell us about our present “now and not yet” moment. You can find it on YouTube below.

There are many advent resources, so many I can sometimes feel overwhelmed. This year I have chosen to use the Pilgrims of Hope audio retreat from Pray As You Go.
